Project Overview
ART 409: Digital Fabrication Studio | Madison, WI
Junior Student September 2025 – December 2025
Your final project should be on a topic that has sparked your interest throughout the semester. You will have a chance to research this topic, method, or theme in greater depth at the end of the semester.
The project can use any of the materials we have used in class such as wood material, 3D Printed Materials, and more. You can also bring in your own materials if the project's intention requires it.

Personal Notes
For this I ended up creating a 4 sided lamp that each represented a special interest from my family. The lamp would have a inner light inside of it that would cast a shadow of the inner designs of the lamp. Paper was used as the in-between layer to hide the inner designs, but still be translucent for the light. Playing with 3D perspective was a major interest of mine with ART 409, so I went all out for this final project with that in mind.

Personal Notes
The project's main material was wood cut with a CNC Lazer. The designs of the cut-outs were desgined in Adobe Illustrator, mostly through using the pen tool to create the outlines and engravings. The four sides of the lamp each represent one of my family member's interests either religious or media related. The paper that I used was given to me by a classmate, and it really helped to bring the piece together.
