ART 429: 3D Digital Studio I: VideoGame Character Model | Madison, WI, Junior Student September 2025 – December 2025
For this assignment, you will design a new character for a fictional video game. Develop an original concept rather than creating a sequel or tribute to an existing game or franchise.
In your sketchbook, you will design the physical appearance of the character, along with at least two different accessories they will use (weapons, vehicles, tools, etc.).
For the final submission must render at least three views of your character (front, side, and perspective) in its neutral pose and perspective views of as many other poses as you want.

Personal Notes
For this project, I wanted to create a video game character centered around an old-western platformer. With that themeing in mind, I wanted to have an anthropomorphic character that would fit the setting of a desert-like environments while being able to use their unique abilities for maneuvering throug the level, so I settled on an Armadillo character.
I took heavy inspiration from the Sonic the Hedgechog series for the unique style and expressiveness of the 3D models in those games. The colors I chose for the character are inspired by the colors seen in sunsets. The color choice was more of a personal interest as I find sunset color schemes to be very appealing, but i also though the colors helped to make the color pallete pop way more.
